Picture this – it’s Dubstep Masterchef and you’re tasked with creating the ultimate electro/rock/drum n’ bass megaband. Hold your high-hats Parklifers, Nero is served.
You just did a drop of excitement wee, didn’t you?
Nero thoroughly assaulted the Coachella masses with bass canons and they sucked it up, dropped to their knees and begged for more. This is the definition of Dubstep; grinding beats and wobbly, super-distorted sounds bludgeoning eardrums a go-go, yo! They haven’t chased status, they’ve f***ing earned it.
Nero are totally Beatport Award re-offenders, in 2009 they won Best Dubstep Track for ‘Act Like You Know’ and in 2010 they walked away as the Best Dubstep Act (yes, the Best. It’s official). BBC Radio 1 figurehead Zane Lowe royally crowned Nero’s debut album ‘Me & You’ his ‘Hottest Record in the World’, so you know what? It’s time.
