As high tops are being wiped down, sun-cream stashed away and festival snaps uploaded, Parklife looks back at some of this year’s vital statistics. They are:
• 120 artists in total graced the Sahara, Kakadu, Atoll, The Cave and El buccan-ear stages across the country this year.
• $59,000 x Dollars raised across the tour for Heaps Decent - an initiative committed to finding and nurturing the creativity of underprivileged and Indigenous young people and emerging artists
• 1 x 4m x 3m Inflatable duck courtesy of DJ super group, Duck Sauce (featuring Armand van Helden and A-Trak), joined the tour this year and even took a paddle around Sydney Harbour.
• 4 ridiculous rider requests in the form of inflatable boat (Yacht Club DJs), 2 inflatable animals and a gorilla costume (Diplo)
• 1,920 x pumping tracks were played over five festival days.
• 3 x birthdays were celebrated at this year’s Parklife: Santigold, members of The Streets and Gold Fields.
• 144 x Bottles of Booze including spirits, wine and champagne were requested on the artist riders
• 30 x Robotic dancers joined festival favourites Yacht Club DJ’s on stage, in each state, including a couple of 70 year old senior citizens in Sydney.
• 3 x Outfit changes in one set for dapper American DJ Diplo.
• 1 x sad yet sweet occasion was shared with fans of The Streets as they thrilled the crowd with their classic anthems at their last ever Australian show.
• 10 x Push ups on-stage by the achingly cool Frenchman Sebastian Tellier
• 246 x ladies invited on stage during Magnetic Man’s epic sets nationwide.
• 15,000+ people working tirelessly over two weekends - touring staff, bar staff, events staff, venue staff, artists, security, caterers, cleaners and more across the five shows.
• 1 x electric collaboration in the form of Beth Ditto from the Gossip and Simian Mobile Disco – the girl has lungs!
• 6 artist-strong x Super group - Example, Nero, Feed Me, Crystal Fighters, Santigold and Diplo (in gorilla costume) all joined Magnetic Man on stage in Adelaide – to end this year’s momentous tour in style!
• 55 in Melbourne + 65 in Adelaide + 290 in Sydney + A LOT in Perth & Brisbane x trees within Parklife venues. We don’t call it Parklife for nothing…
