Indie darlings Passion Pit are getting ready to release their brand new album Gossamer this coming Friday and from what we have heard so far this is going to be one of the must have albums of 2012.
When Passion pit frontman Michael Angelakos set forth to begin work on Gossamer with engineer Alex Aldi in January of 2011, the two first rented a studio near the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighbourhood. The new Passion Pit headquarters shared the building with an array of businesses that were not over the moon at the rumbling beats coming from Pit HQ, “There would be fists pounding the walls,” Alex remembers. So Michael and Alex turned nocturnal and began working through the nights. The result of these nightly sojourns are currently being teased on Triple J as the station's feature album and will be revealed in full on Friday when Gossamer is released in Australia.

Passion Pit have already released the intensely catchy “Take a Walk’ single from Gossamer, along with it’s expressive and technically impressive video clip. The intricate clip is a bit of an insight into Michael’s approach to song-writing; “I’m a maximalist,” he claims, with his engineer, Alex, confirming this, “the songs on Gossamer carry anywhere from 60 to 200 instrumental tracks”.
Keen Passion Pit fans can pre-order Gossamer on iTunes before Friday and get an exclusive pre-order only track: http://smarturl.it/gossameritunes
